This is a Windows box, right? If so, check the LOGIN; the new computer
will need to be recognized by the other computers, as well as itself, in
order for the Network to be available. Log in as Administrator, and
verify that the default user is set up correctly; log out, then back in
as the default user. Be sure and use the log-in, and don't use the
shortcut to bypass it. You can also tell Windows that the default user
is to be normally expected, which will enable an auto-login function (at
least in Win2K; not sure about later versions). The setup isn't very
intuitive, but once done, should be good for however long the install
lasts. One other thing is the router and/or firewall; be sure the
firewall(s) are configured to use the correct internal IP number(s) -
the 192.168.x.x number. This will have to be done AT (or at least
virtually at - plug into the same port on the router) the control room,
or else you'll configure to the wrong IP number.

Many firewalls will pop up a query - if that's enabled - asking whether
this network is a Trusted Zone or Internet Zone.

The light just means the cable is good; it should blink if there's data
transfer occurring.
