Rich:

Andy is still working for Tribune in New York. He is now working in the
television division as a corporate engineer. I see him from time to time. I
think that he was already in TV and WQCD had been sold by the time of 9/11.
By the way WQCD moved back to Empire in 1994 when the new master FM antenna
was completed. The problem WPIX had when they were at Trade was blanketing
interference around Empire due to all the other FM signals present at ESB.
Andy knew this and wanted to come back to Empire to eliminate this problem.
With 101.9 at Empire their signal would be at an equivalent strength and not
get buried by AGC action in the receiver.

Andy is a good friend. We have known each other for 25 years and were in the
trenches together on many occasions!

When I was there it was still on the WTC. We had serious problems in
midtown and often discussed moving back to Empire.

I believe Andy Bater was still there when the move back happened. I
think it had been moved prior to 9/11. Of course, WPIX-TV was still
there that awful day. So far as I know he was gone when the station was
sold.
