[BC] trouble with an old BC-1G need advice

I haven't worked in radio since the sixties so this is just 
out of curiosity.

Shouldn't the RF output meter on the transmitter read the 
current for a given power output at 50-ohms?  For example, 
one thousand watts output at 50-ohms would be very close to 
4.48 amps.

Isn't the antenna base current and base impedance specified 
on the station license?
