277 lighting, which is always single-phase, fits in quite naturally with
a 480 system.

Systems in common use in North America follow a 1, 2, 4 and 5 progression.

For a 110 base, these voltages are: 110, 220, 440 and 550.

For a 115 base, the old standard, post-WW-II, these voltages are: 115,
230, 460 and 575.

For a 120 base, the new standard, post-WW-II, these voltages are: 120,
240, 480 and 600.

A lot of power can be delivered using 600.

480, as well.

On one 50 kW facility I consulted for, 277/480 was selected, and this
included lots and lots of lighting, as there was nearly 3,400 feet of
steel in the air.
