As I recall at the time KLIF was constructed it was the first 12 tower used
as one pattern. I believe the Storer station in Detriot had 12 tower but used
them in combinations between day and night but not all 12 in one pattern.

I was told by our consultants that there was an application filed for a 14
tower array somewhere in the west. I am unaware if this site as constructed.

I doubt if any large array would be constructed as a new site today due to
land acquisition, zoning (NIMBY) and resulting service, with the exception of
major markets.

However Clear Channel has been doing some very impressive DA combinations.
The combining of the 540 Khz and 740 kHz. 50 kW sites in Orlando and the three
stations in Boston, MA.

While I was in Boston last month I visited John Warner, Clear Channel VP/ AM
Systems, at the 7 tower site with the triplex of the three DA-2 stations.
Very impressive installation and design. See a photo of the Kintronics Phasor
in Radio Guide in the Kintronics ad. The Common point filter is on top of one
of the three phasor cabinets.

These combinations are being done by stations out of necessity, Age of the
system, economys of scale by combining sites and selling off excessive real
estate.
