According to a high ranking official at Hall Communications Cuprak 
Road office in Norwich, CT .. they told me that there was a fire at 
the base of a tower or two and it would've been too costly to repair.

They operated at 100W ND for several months before turning in the license

I can't imagine how this would result in the total demise of the station! Did
they not have insurance? Or did the owner torch it because it just wasn't
worth anything anymore? ? (I'm really grasping at straws, here.) I just can't
imagine shutting it down because of a fire! Now I know why I didn't see those
towers as I went up I-95 to RI a few weeks ago!
