Thanks for the explanation of the file structure and coding used... one 
less mystery!

To return the favor - go into the boss's computer - or show him how  to 
- under Folder Options (Start>Control Panel>Folder Options), click on 
the "File Types" tab and scroll down to the PDF entry.  Highlight the 
entry, and click "Change"  If Acrobat Reader was installed, that should 
be near the top of the list; highlight it and click OK.  Close 
everything, and NEXT time he clicks a PDF, it will open Adobe Reader.  
If it's not listed, there's an option to browse the system for it.  Once 
located, the procedure is the same; highlight it, click OK, and close 
the control panel.  Once done, ANY time a PDF is clicked, it will open 
with Adobe Reader.
