[BC] Transformers needed

not to rain on your idea here, but is it really worth the effort and cost of the
transformers vs the cost of larger wire ?

I make the current to be 8.33 amps per leg

using 10 amps for ease of figuring, and a conservative 2% voltage drop max, then # 1 wire
would work as it has 0.1239 ohms per 1000 ft

if you can live with 4 % drop, then # 6 would work out

since you are using six phases, you might want to consider using a pair of service
entrance 'triplex' cables (as used for 3-phase POCO pole-to-meter) for this, any
electrical supply house can give you a price on this (and probably cut you a deal if you
buy two 1000-ft rolls at once)

just a thought

My problem has been finding transformers at the low power 0.5kW) levels I'd like - and
therefore at a cost point that's reasonable. I can get 10:1 units at 10-15KVA easily ...
but the costs are just too high for my application.

I'll try your approach in my searcxhing though ... thanks!

2400V to 120/240V transformers should be much easier to find.
If you but 60V into the 240V side (ie- across full secondary) you
will get 600V from the 2400V primary.
Then do the opposite at the load end. Note that the KVA rating will
be less than the xfmr's normal rating as it is limited by the max
current rating of windings regardless of the voltage.
