Yes, the wind at Malibu Peak got up to 101 mph, and nearly as high in other
areas.  Up into the 70's around Las Vegas, I hear.  Fire leapt over I-15
between Temecula and Escondido (near Fallbrook) and closed the freeway.  I
don't know if it is open yet.  The CalTrans website's server is down, their
phone line is jammed, and the CDF and CHP sites aren't much better.  There
are at least 8 fires going on now.  Nothing affecting this area, though.  We
don't even see any smoke.
