[BC] Thought For The Day

I have ALWAYS sought input from everyone
who has to use a studio. In the many studios
I have designed and constructed for non-comm
and commercial stations, the philosophy I employ
is "You have to work in there every day, I don't.
Tell me what you want." This from a former DJ
in a time long past.

Perhaps the best example of this was the design
of the Boeing 777. They asked pilots, mechanics
and flight attendants for their input. I recall one
Captain saying "You're asking ME what I'd like?"
He was referring to pointers on the attitude indicator.

The only complaint I've had at two different
University stations was the disagreement new
staff had with the former staff who specified Mac
computers over PC's. I won't touch that one!

I try to anticipate future needs. In too many cases,
the needs of the station evolved while the infrastructure
remained the same and could no longer meet the
new demands.
