The maximum AM audio response allowed by the FCC (and by the CRTC in
Canada) is still 10 kHz, and many AM receivers exceed 7 kHz, especially
cheap analog-tuning radios which have wideband audio response as the
consequence of poor selectivity.  (There are also a number of AM stations
which are transmitting an audio bandwidth in excess of the 10 kHz NRSC
spec, including at least one 50,000-watter with a mammoth nighttime
skywave signal.)

On FM, most of today's audio processors have extended the upper audio
limit to 16 kHz, or sometimes even 17 kHz -- although the difference
really isn't audible unless you keep the processing a notch or two below
"major-market" loudness levels.
