[BC] Sangean HDT-1 composite output

FYI, there's a "new and improved" version of the Sangean HDT-1 tuner
already available: the HDT-1X, which adds SPDIF digital audio output (but
still no analog composite output), forced analog and forced mono modes,
split-channel simultaneous analog/digital mode, a Stereo indicator for
MPX FM Stereo and C-Quam AM Stereo, and various other minor new features.

And reminiscent of Windows 98 Second Edition, the HDT-1X fixes a lot of
the HDT-1's bugs, but adds some new ones too; for example, the analog AM
audio response is considerably extended on the HDT-1X, but it fails to
implement proper NRSC de-emphasis, resulting in a shrill midrange boost
(+4 dB at
4 kHz, vs. the NRSC curve). But if you EQ out the midrange boost, its
response is only down -2 dB at 8 kHz, making it a very wideband AM tuner
by today's standards -- not to mention that it has C-Quam AM Stereo, too!

It's somewhat ironic that just as the NRSC is about to "retire" its AMAX
wideband AM Stereo receiver standard due to the lack of compliant
receivers, Sangean comes out with a new tuner which actually exceeds the
AMAX minimum wideband response standard of 50 Hz - 7.5 kHz.

You can find a full review and detailed specs of the HDT-1 and HDT-1X on
