Stations all over the country were doing this "contest." There was/
is a network of morning show producers who exchange ideas. Don
& Mike were doing this in the 80s, and really made the Washington
Post angry. It seems they make a LOT of money from that page or two
and because of the show, no brides wanted to be on he pages. I don't
think they sued, but how could they win?
Today the network of producers is even more formal, and easy with e-
mail. Plus, there are show prep firms which send out the same
information to dozens and dozens of stations each morning. It is
interesting to hear morning guys working from the same location,
telling the same jokes, making the same observations, and doing the
same bits. Even when it is local, its all the same.
