As Rob Meuser points out, when the other individual (who I was polite enough 
not to name) indulged in finger pointing, chest thumping, and remarks 
bordering on slander, no would-be moderators came forward to tell him he was 
out of line.  Apparently they cut you more slack around here when you're one 
of the fraternity brothers.

As for "the issue" itself, I've repeatedly tried to provoke calm and 
dispassionate technical discussions of it over the years, but there are 
seldom any takers.
