That was a great model in the early '70s as was the earlier HP35 and later 
on, the HP25.  The Ne-Plus-Ultra model was the HP65 with its magnetic 
programming cards.

Several friends in high school leaned toward the TI SR-10 and 11 models but 
the extra dough for the HP models was worth it, provided you didn't choke on 
RPN.   The leather belt case was especially nice and you could quickly draw 
the thing out of the holster like a pistol with one sweeping hand motion --  
not that I would admit to ever wearing one.  Bookstores at major 
universities often sold the HPs at a discount to students.

I recently restored my HP25 of 32 years as the NiCad pack would hold a 
charge for about two minutes.  Using a hot Exacto knife, the battery pack 
was cleanly cut open and the 'AA' NiCads were replaced with Li-Ion types. 
Total run time now seems to be at least as long as it ever was when the 
NiCads were new.
