XM does random surveys of their customer base and my friend there told me
that's what they discovered from them.
They also did a bunch of research when Clear Channel was about to take over
Sunny (channel 24) to determine whether they needed to replace it with a non
commercial equalivent. Their reserach told them that Sunny was their top
station at the time, so they replaced it with channel 78.

Can you source that? Arbitron hasn't yet released information on
specific formats. There's no publicly available information on
individual channels, including Howard Stern. No one has exact
information. You might want to rephrase that to "I believe Beautiful
Music on XM has a large following."

Toward the end virtually every Beautiful Music syndicator and station
found it necessary to record their own music. I was Creative Chairman
of the International Beautiful Music Association. It was a large
group of stations and syndicators who shared music. Both Schulke
Radio Productions, Bonneville International and Darryl Peters' FM-100
(Chicago) felt it necessary to record music.

What we do know is that Bob Bittner's WJIB, Cambridge, MA, has a
large following because Arbitron says so. The station is the highest
rated AM after the 50Kw heritage stations in the market.
