I don't think you would sound better on a mono radio; in fact, I don't think
there would be any difference, UNLESS you do an upgrade on your audio
processing. Now on a STEREO radio, you would sound a WHOLE lot better,
because stereo AM radios are designed with a wider bandwidth than the mono
radios.
Going to a SS transmitter would only make a difference if your tube type
transmitter is in bad shape.
You will not lose or gain any coverage by going AM Stereo.
BEFORE I would invest in AM Stereo, I would look to see how the IBOC
nighttime battle plays out. You currently have some nighttime power. If your
signal will be "hashed" over, that wideband stereo receiver will do you no
good at night.
