[BC] International aspects of IBOC at night

Canada is testing IBOC as we speak. From what I have been reading
they are leaning towards approving IBOC. Now, I do NOT know if they
are looking at just FM or AM and FM. Nor am I aware of any HD AM
testing going on in Canada. It will be interesting to see how their
testing will effect things.

According to some of my Canadian engineering friends, Eureka has not
exactly taken off in Canada.

I too am a DXer. Have been for XX years (I would hate to admit how
long I have been DXing). I would miss hearing the hets (and sometimes
actual programming) from Algeria (891) and Saudi 1521), as well as
the usual EU suspects.

Some of you will get a kick out of iBiquitys' press release area
called (of all things) The
BUZZ: <http://www.hdradio.com/the_buzz.php>http://www.hdradio.com/the_buzz.php

Who cares?? What does the NRC or IRCA add to the bottom line of the
nighttime broadcasters? We live in a $$$ driven world. I don't like
it; I grew up with
BCB DX and will miss the sense of accomplishment from pulling some station
out of the noise.

Like it or not, $$$ drives everything and there is not much we can do. Maybe
objections from Canada will put a stop to IBUZ at night.
