Most digital FM radios made in the past 15 years will toggle between the
American and Japanese FM bands (and 9 kHz spacing on AM too) by holding a
certain button while turning on the power.

Dave ... I'm just being picky, but what is the
difference between a daytime and an AM
         with 'no nighttimer power' ??

Also, I'd echo your remarks on Japan. This is the
info I had a few years back. NO ONE has sent
me a note to either correct me, or add anything.
