The noise floor, by and large, gentlemen, is NOT from the "little stations".
It's from millions of miles of power lines, thousands of defective
insulators for same, millions of fluorescent lights, neon lights, computers,
computer monitors, industrial equipment, ad infinitum.
I'm still puzzled by how the AM band is so "overcrowded", when I can travel
a hunded fifty miles of highway here in Mississippi, and find listenable
stations on about 10 (out of 200) channels.
