The issue is that a company like Turner Broadcasting ought to know better
than to have almost every display in their building showing an incorrect
aspect ratio -- and furthermore, if they have no plans to upgrade to
widescreen video, then maybe they shouldn't have bought hundreds of
widescreen LCDs for their building!
And worst of all were the displays showing obvious interference patterns,
just like a TV set watching a VCR tape through the Channel 3 RF modulator
when there is a local station already broadcasting on Channel 3. I was
standing there watching one of their large-screen displays, and the video
quality was actually worse than what I remember from back in the '80s,
watching CNN on an old clicker-knob TV set with an analog cable box in a
seedy Wildwood, NJ motel.
