Gordon:

If your client would like to buy a newer ESE clock and replace his 102, I
would be delighted to give it a new home. I promise it will be kept safe,
warm, well fed and be very much loved ;-)

Our fund drive is coming up, and such a donation will count :-) So much for
engineering being a non-revenue generating cost center, right? :-D

Thanks for the input. I am waiting for my client to get back to me on
what he wants to do. As I see it, he has 3 options: 1) replace the
chip, 2) reset the clock, 3) do nothing and be off a few weeks a year.
Since the client has no tech help, options 1 and 2 require my services.

We'll wait and see.
