Sorry about that, Cat being a nuisance/
Have a flaky Starguide. Got everything bypassed so I could pull it out.
It dumped out about a week ago--just went into "acquiring" mode forever. After resting for about 8 hours it just came back to life.
Thursday a couple of dips in signal at sunfade time caused it to go nuts for an hour. Another Starguide --same dish--same transponder--burped a couple of times then stayed steady.
Friday the audio seemed distorted. I suspect a flaky power supply...
1. What are the normal voltages?
Measuring two feeds off the power supply of 6.25 volts, two at 18 1/2 volts. Awful complicated looking supply if it is just supplying unregulated voltages to regulators on board the cards.
2. Anybody with ABC having an inside word on whether the Starguide will become obsolete when replaced by the new receivers?
That is, will the transmission method change so that the stream can't be decoded by a Starguide?
If Starguides will still receive programming I might look for a backup receiver. Otherwise, no point in buying something that won't work in a few years.
