Who needs an FCC rule change - when you've got a powerful Congressman on
your side?
Here's the latest installment in a recent flurry of one-time exceptions to
established FCC rules. This time it's WRHI, Rock Hill, SC (1340), and Our
Three Sons Broadcasting was having trouble covering all of York County with
its 1-kw signal. WRHI's been pushing the FCC to grant FM translators to AMs.
Finally WRHI turned to Rep. John Spratt (D-SC). With his help - and his new
influence as chairman of the House Budget Committee - the Commission came
through with a waiver and granted WRHI a new translator on 94.3.
