[BC] cheap exciter

Working on a translator project, using composite receiver/exciter combination for about 16 watts tpo.  Was going to use an old PowerPak exciter, but this unit has been haunted. So far have had to replace output transistor, then the power supply gave up the ghost. (Uses a Darlington for power control, with no exact match).

I seem to remember there was an inexpensive Italian exciter sold by...somebody. 1 RU device for around a grand.  But can't find anything like that now,(perhaps the dollar is too low!!!).

I need something the size of the PowerPak (3RU or smaller) since I am working with limited rack space.

Any suggestions?
