That['s understood... but still no excuse for running doubled-up audio, which 
is a major tune-out factor.

Try to think about it form the perspective of John Clueless Public, who has 
heard the "stations between the stations" promos, and bought a radio... who 
then hears the doubled audio recurring. He or she will most likely blame the 
radio, not the station, and return the thing... thinking that the "stations 
between the stations" are overlapping in their airea, so it's no use.

In the listener's mind, the problems like this are probably with the 
*radio*... not necessarly the station.
