Very well put. I remember (you could almost hear the dials spin) the "magic"
switch to FM seemed to be when the AM stations were playing the short
version of Light My Fire by the Doors when the FM's were playing the 7+
minute version. I believe I remember people talking about AM vs. FM in that
way. Little tid bit. That may have been a San Francisco thing since it was
there that underground radio started. That "magic" moment may have happened
in other markets in a different way however.
