WTOP in Washington (The AM) ... they built and ran an FM for a few years and gave up on it and donated to a university. I saw it in operation when they still had it. My uncle was an engineer there through AM only, AM/FM, AM/FM/TV, AM/TV and finaly TV only when he retired. It's all his fault that I'm in this industry!

Today, it seems strange that major market FM licenses were once
considered worthless, but there are many amazing stories of stations
that were literally given away.
