[BC] Mackie & Berhinger Mixers For A Radio Station

Hey guys...

I'm seriously considering replacing my mid 60s Vintage RCA 10 Channel Rotary
Console(AKA The Boat Anchor lol) with an 8 Channel Mackie or Behringer for
two reasons:

1.) This RCA is a firggen space hog
2.) Cost

I could probably do just fine with an 8 channel mixer.

I have a few questions...

If this is the route I choose to go, should I steer towards Mackie or
Behringer?

Also, how do I make it so when the mic pot is turned up, turned on or taken
out of cue.. that the studio speakers get muted?
