What scares me is the show went on the road. Actually, it was quite good.
My company supplied the house PA system for it and I was at all the shows.
The PA system was six channels plus a subwoofer feed. It ran off of a 1" 8
track tape. As I recall it was in the area of 25,000 watts which was huge power
for the 1970's. One track was used for slide cues, the remaining 7 tracks
were for house sound. It was pretty advanced stuff for the day. I think we
first did it at Radio & Records in Dallas, but it went over so well that it went
on to the NAB Radio Show, the Las Vegas NAB show and several regional radio
conventions. Keeping the 8 track Scully tape deck working was a big part of
the job. TM's house engineer Chuck Webster, spent a lot of time keeping it
working.

Some of the load ins really sucked. I remember dragging a truck load of PA
system through the lobby of the new Orleans Hyatt at 4 AM to be ready for a
breakfast presentation. We probably woke up the entire hotel.

Ah, the "good old days..."
