I guess ADC is the standard, but I haven't used a patchbay since 1974.
Unless you exercise them once in awhile, corrosion sets in and starts making
the normals flaky. I see no need for one; if you need to bypass something,
just unplug the input XLR connector and plug it in downstream. If the
equipment uses barrier-strip I/O, wire up external XLR's. To switch from
one studio to another, my preference is the Burk LX-1, though Broadcast
Tools and others make switchers that are perfectly acceptable. That's my
advice.
