[BC] EAS Logs

Agreed there is not a requirement to have an operator on duty. HOWEVER,
the entry still must be entered on the log by someone. Even if that
someone is the DCO. Seems silly to me....but that's the rule as our
counsel has advised us and we have yet to fail an inspection in that regard.

On your other post, I keep a separate Obstruction System Inspection Log at
the tower site too. (Note I didn't transmitter inspection log.) It really
covers a number of things cited in other rules sections (including checking
monitoring systems and calibrations) and are all referenced to rule parts
elsewhere in Part 73 and 17. HOWEVER, the above cited inspection log needs
to be attached to the Station Log as those are required entires which the
rules don't provide for being kept separately at the tower site. Note...I
said tower site and not TX site.

My Transmission Site Inspection Form (not log) covers all the detailed
readings of the TX , the antenna monitor and MP's for AM's as well as LOTS
of other RF and non-RF things which are not Part 73 regulated. This form
CAN be attached to the Station Log as back-up proof the station was
operating correctly. Though I usually do not do so unless there was a
condition which required substantial work to bring the station back into
compliance and this is an interim document to show such. It's signed and
dated like a log so it can be attached.

While this is an additional thing to carry, I scan the unsigned site
inspection forms into the laptop and then print/sign the copy back at the
studio for attachment to the Station Log as necessary. That way, the form
can be viewed without a trip to the site and the detailed record kept at
the site for long term tracking. I've meet the spirit, if not the letter
of the rule by performing in this manner.
