Yes. Easy.

No.  But it's easy to use an alternative that I've shown you - VNC.  I
just set up my Linux box at home so that I can use UltraVNC on my
laptop and remotely see and control the screen on my home Linux box
(running Ubuntu Linux) over a secure SSH connection.
