I visited the same store you are referring to only about two weeks ago and I
found it to be pretty well organized. I agree their prices aren't always the
best on tools, test equipment and parts but you have to pay something for
convenience. There is something to be said for being able to pick up
everything you need under one roof. It's the Wal Mart mentality I guess. I
still think they do a fairly good job considering how specialized certain
aspects of the electronics trade are.

You know I was, at one time, very enamored by Fry's.  My fiancee is from 
nearby Naperville, Il and she was the one who introduced me to it as the 
"greatest electronics store ever" (hence why we're getting married).

However, the last few times I went there I was fairly disappointed.  Their 
selection of tools is very minimal.  Usually the shelves are an unorganized 
mess, and their employees are very apathetic (when you can even find them). 
Price-wise for the most part you can do better online.

I am envious of anyone who has a Fry's Electronics nearby! I have visited
two of them, one in Missouri City near Houston Texas and Downers Grove,
Illinois near Chicago. On both occasions we were doing projects in those
cities. Forget Radio Shack! These guys have everything even if you forgot
your scope, soldering iron, tools, washing machine, PC, software, ...!
