You know I was, at one time, very enamored by Fry's. My fiancee is from
nearby Naperville, Il and she was the one who introduced me to it as the
"greatest electronics store ever" (hence why we're getting married).

However, the last few times I went there I was fairly disappointed. Their
selection of tools is very minimal. Usually the shelves are an unorganized
mess, and their employees are very apathetic (when you can even find them).
Price-wise for the most part you can do better online.

The advantage of Fry's is that you can "see," some of the products. My last
few experiences with Fry's have been less than stellar. I purchased a Seagate
300 Gig back up hard drive that failed after seven months of use. Fry's would
not exchange the device even thought it was still within the one year
warranty period. Had I purchased their store's warranty for $25.00 at the time, it
would have been covered!

As it was, I was running without a back up for more than seven week until
Sea-gate finally sent me a new drive. My next purchase will not be a Sea-Gate as
they were very difficult to work with.

I have had much better success and have an open account with Newark
Electronics and also Mouser. They are much more customer friendly and both do deliver
in a timely manner.
