So far no one has recalled the year (and I don't know the year of the
NAB either) but Electro-Voice did the presentation at the very first
Philadelphia SBE meeting (at least I *think* it was an SBE meeting)
that I ever attended in December of
1968, or so.

The CE of my college station, WGLS-FM, and I drove in his car to City
LIne Avenue. I still remember coming around the curve near the
Philadelphia Zoo on the Schuylkill Expressway and seeing my very first
glimpse of the Philadelphia Antenna Farm, a fine crop of thousand foot
towers!!!

I was a hippie college Freshman, feeling out of my element, but
fascinated with broadcasting and anxious to learn what I could about
using two mikes to cancel out crowd noise and watching a 635A being
swung like a hammer against a wooden 2x4 - and it still worked.

And as far as I was concerned I was proud that we had THREE 635As at
WGLS-FM. I took one of them on a long cable for a live remote from
the Men's Room down the hall from the station, complete with live
toilet flushing effects.

After all, I knew the 635A could take it!
