[BC] STL question

We used KDFC-FM's signal with a specially designed crystal controlled 
receiver for the audio for KIBE AM. It's the reverse situation but the owner 
did it for years and this was in the San Francisco Bay Area right under the 
nose of the FCC. I don't believe there's anything about how audio is 
delivered to the transmitter.
KDFC was/is licensed to San Francisco and KIBE (whatever the calls are now I 
don't know) was licensed to Palo Alto which is about 30 to 40 miles south of 
San Francisco if that means anything.
