Regarding remotes using VHF as (I think) Paul is
proposing.

When I was the CE at KBIM in Roswell, we did a
lot of remotes using a Marti system.  I eventually
converted a couple of "surplus" 160 MHz (MC then!)
taxicab radios to do the same thing.  Gutted the transmit
audio and built in my own.

Let me tell you, those things paid for themselves a
zillion times over!  The staff (I am not in the least bit
concerned about staff size) needs to know what kind of
a tool they have there, the sales folks (ditto above) should
also know, and the folks who might be using the equipment
should be clued in.

After that, community involvement here we come!

And long after that, profits here we come.  Community
first.  In a small community the task should be easier.
