Of my comments on the 20K.  I have worked on the lower power K series Gates
transmitters and rebuilt the PA cavity a dozen times on the 1K, finally put
in  a 4XC1500 and it worked pretty good.  Got the 'be-jesus' shocked out of
me on that one time.

But conceptually I was right, I bet most of the FM transmitter engineers on
this list have played around with those little 'bling bling' low power amps
for a lot of things.  I had to replace the solid state pre-amp on the
McMartin BF-1M because of the several times I had to work on it before, so
when it went out the last time (due to lightning--tower was 350 on a hill
down south here, we get lightning you know) I turned to one of the over the
counter type and it worked fine.

Just wonder if anyone on the list has had experience with the BF 1 K or M
series or the 3.5 K or M series?  Had the new version of their exciter, the
8000 something series or whatever it was, that was in the year of 1980.

I think that I bought the only BF 1M ever built.
