>> I recently had an Electrician ( IBEW) come to my site to install a
Voltage/current meter
and I was on my way to the site. when the station went off the air..
the kid defeated the Power interlock switch on the back of the
transmitter and opened the back door with the transmitter still on to
hook up the CT coils.. He had No idea of the Voltages inside.<<
Same thing happened to me some years back. An electrician who had
worked at my site many times, and who knew the voltages and currents
involved, was doing some work up there...but had brought along an
apprentice, who proceeded to open the FM-25k's back door. Besides being
frightened out of his wits by the loud bang when the interlocks kicked
in, his mentor had ripped him a new one by the time I got there. The
instant I stepped through the door he was the most apologetic person on
earth. I put the rig back on the air, took his arm and gently led him
over to the front of the transmitter. I pointed to the plate voltage
and current meters, and told him, "that's what you crashed when you
opened that back door." For a moment there I thought he was going to
faint. He had seen the panels for 120/240, the rotary phase converter
and the generator transfer panel, and thought that was all there was up
there.
