Hi Bob:
They cannot be received over most of the New York metro because they have a
first adjacent that, I presume, is slammed constantly into a composite
clipper at 105% modulation.
Oh...that bit!!! Ok...now I understand why they can't even show up. I'm sure that's the reason.
Give them coverage and a KTU-sized promotion budget and it would be
interesting to see what happens.
>Maybe in a market that size you could make a few bucks with that format.
>Talk to KQED-FM
KQED is not about to rock the boat, considering their monster ratings.
Oh...are they doing well in the pull-outs? Great. Glad to hear it. Any classical music blocks?
Reading between the lines, WPRB's classical programming is probably not all
that different from KXPR's (in Sacramento). Another thing on my
"unobtainable wish list" is a KXPR translator in the Bay Area. But I
understand that politics prevent it from happening.
Is that old lady McClatchy's old FM Frequency? Is that the sister FM (former or current) to KFBK? I just looked at the Sacramento book for Fall and KXPR doesn't show up. Interesting. One would think they would. Then again, it IS the valley. Lemme come out there a let's move some allocations around and give KDFC a run for their money! <G> Actually, the old KSFR frequency (KSAN would do fine) Let's put the Wolfgang back on. I think I'm losing it here Bob. It's late and I have some tracks to cut.
We'll see how KDFC HD2 shapes up. Today was the first day it was lit up.
They were playing 19th century music and not even announcing the names of
the works or the artists; they just had a few liners. I presume this will
improve. Otherwise, it will be one of Rich Wood's zero-production values
"jukeboxes."
Now here is where the type of thing (which I'm about to do) we do on WorldSpace would work nicely. Be a bit more informative about the works. Put in a nice liner package and promote the heck out of it. Hope Bonneville doesn't leave it as a jukebox. Now that would be a shame. BTW, how's the audio on KDFC's secondary? They using one of your boxes? I know in 1980 we had your 8100A on the FM and I believe we were running a Bauer. Ole Fritz. I didn't know he died in 1961! We had a pair of Bauer rigs at KNEW when I was there in 1971. I guess the company continued sometime after his death. Don't know when the last Bauer came off the line. Good rigs.

Ahh...but money isn't everything. And, unlike most college stations, WPRB
has always paid its own way by selling local advertising, thanks to a
commercial license.
Yes, I noticed on their web site they had an advertising section. So they're a commercial college station. That's the way to go. I would imagine they have a good broadcasting department. Real world education unlike some college broadcasting departments I know. :)
