I don't recall Jim ever having suggested bonding pin 1 to chassis of each
piece of equipment in all conditions.

I guess I did not mean to infer that this is to be done in ALL conditions,
but it is a good place to begin. We have been using the "hummer test," which I
do by placing my TOA ZM104
Impedance meter between pin 1 and the chassis.

The impedance meter generates a 1 kHz. signal at low levels, If the tone
comes through
the piece of gear, then there is a Pin 1 issue!

Jim has a white paper, "Solving and Avoiding Problems Without Opening the
Hood!"

It may be on his web site _http://audiosystemsgroup.com_
(http://audiosystemsgroup.com)

There was a wonderful workshop sponsored by Syn-Aud-Con in Chicago last
July, 05
(Hums, Buzzes, and RF Workshop), with Jim and Bill Whitlock making some very
good presentations.

Bill Whitlock is of Jensen Transformers and they have some excellent
documents and tools for tracing and troubleshooting hum and noise problems in audio
gear! Well worth having a look see if you are having problems.
