I find it amusing that Clear Channel is offering their "HD2" channels
online as 32 kbps Windows Media Audio streams, which sound hideous to
begin with, and most of these are at the 22.05 kHz sampling rate. Combine
that with the 100% MONO audio and nasty ground loop hum on the San
Francisco streams, and it's like listening to a low-budget AM station,
except with digital codec artifacts added.

The "Classic Lite" stream from NYC also has very distorted bass, but it's
an "analog" kind of distortion, not a nasty digital clipping sound. So I
wonder, just how are they getting these "HD2" streams on the web? Through
old Telco lines or something!? I would expect everything to be digital
from the automation computer to the streaming server, but I guess not.
