I've got a friend that has the following...  Let me know if you are

"Incidentally, do you know of anyone interested in a studio type AMPEX 440B
Reel to reel. I have one in perfect condtion, with original roll around
cabinet-in good to excellent condition-closer to excellent (was from masonic
temple in EC-estimated only 100 HOURS of use-they used it to record
Christmas concert!). I'd have to look-not sure if it is 2 channel 1/4 or 1/2
track (1/4 inch tape), but can easily be converted.
Only downside is it is 3 3/4 - 7 1/2 ips unit. Can be easily converted to 7
1/2 - 15 ips unit with new motor and an easy to do/small change (about 4
caps and
resistors) in electronics.

I also have another fair condition (might be considered good for age) unit,
stereo 1/2 track, that has 15 ips stuff in it, I'd be glad to sell it cheap
for parts for above or someone else to repair-I think it still works but
needs good cleaning, a set of heads, and the motor probably needs bearing
soon-it's seen a lot of studio miles of tape! 

I have several spare parts also.

I just can't find the time to work on them-originally planned the nicer
looking one for my home studio-but need to start purging my garage for
workbench business!

If anyone would be interested-I could send pics. They would need to pick up
or arrange shipping-I'd be glad to get it to a loading dock."
