[BC] Re: New FM Auctions

The auctions are a joke. Even more so, the FCC is a joke!
My two year old could likely do just as good a job as the FCC at "regulating"
(read: selling to the biggest companies) PUBLIC spectrum.
A little 10 watt station serving a small community in Vermont (note the word
S E R V I N G!) gets hassled, while the big stations literally get away with
murder!

I had a few rulemakings in this auction. After the last one (where I did bid
and bid and bid and bid but got nothing), I didn't waste my time this time.

In the last auction, my rulemakings literally made the FCC million$
(Don't believe me? Check out what they got for Mojave, CA.)
What did I get for all my trouble? NOTHING!

If the FCC really wanted to play fair, they'd have a "pioneer's preference"
where the proponent of a channel got some kind of preference. But we know that
will never happen - because all the FCC cares about are the big guys (who got
most of the channels in the last
auction).

Am I bitter? Damn right! I do all the work, and some rich guy swoops in and
rips me off! At least under the OLD system, the little guy (who lived in the
community, was a minority and/or planned to actually RUN the station) got a
break. No more.

-D
(Who will never allot another FM channel...ever!)

Get out your Rand McNally and look at where a lot of these new channels
are.

After handing all that money to the Guv'mint you'll have to spend even
more to hire an expert guide to get you to these backwoods metropoli.
