The same billboards have popped up all over Pittsburgh. They have some sort
of centralized control so the same message can appear simultaneously
throughout the market. The display changes about every 10-15 seconds to a different
advertiser.
The boards first appeared during the last Olympics. To show how agile the
message could be, one message in the cycle was a current medal count.
The LCD boards can be either an adjunct or a threat to radio. An adjunct
because a station can promote what's airing "right now" to reach the button
pushers in their cars. A threat because they solicit the same advertisers.
