Tom,

Nice to hear some of the old names!

I agree on the helpfulness of most engineers; I know I have loaned and been loaned parts in emergencies, and given and been given advice and ideas.

Even gone over to lend a helping hand when asked and I could. And of course passed on what words of wisdom (hopefully no follies!) I could to other engineers. I know one who says I taught him much of what he knows, tho he is exaggerating greatly!

And althought I have been contracting to make money, I have helped stations in emergencies over the telephone when they had mechancially ept personnel who could follow instructions, saving the station the cost of a service trip.

I suppose that is self defeating economically, but one station has appreciated it and given me lots of business; while another tho has cut me dead since their middle manager feels he now can do it all himself. (He can't really.)

But no real regrets...I think overall being helpful has paid off.

CH8 had and still has some great engineers. Doug Beaudoin, Jack
Maciejewski and others taught me an awful lot about real broadcast
engineering. Priceless education.
