That's $20 to you and me... walking in to Radio Shack or another parts place, 
and buying at single-unit retail prices, which can be anywhere from 100% to 
1,000% markup. (I kid you not. Markup on parts at RS is in the upper hundreds 
of percent!)

So, what would cost you or me $20 to build would only cost a large-scale 
manufacturer about $5. Possibly less.
