A have a mint set of Altec A7's that came out of a theatre in Central Mexico.

They look just like the day that they were installed.

Altec is now a part of Spark-O-Matic. The same folks who brought you cheap
car stereos in the 1970s. They have even reissued the A-7 loudspeaker.

(http://www.alteclansing.com/legacy/story.asp) I can't say as I know why, because they are not that great a
speaker. They were intended to reproduce optical film sound through a
perforated movie screen, and have the presence peaks to prove it. The new version is
incredibly expensive at about $4000 each plus $300 shipping. I guess they
figure that there are enough people out there with cash in their pockets.

Cetec Vega was absorbed into the EV-Telex line. Somewhere in the process,
the brand name went away. For a while a few wireless mics were labeled
"EV-Vega."
