and Altec made some very durable consoles, but not transmitters

*********************************
Altec never built transmitters but came from the Western Electric broadcast
line.

During the Justice Department "Trust Bustin" days of AT&T Division Western
Electric, The majority of the Western Electric Broadcast audio line became
Altec. Consoles, Speakers, Mikes, Amplifiers speakers. Over the years
the Altec company evolved from the basic Western Electric audio product line.

The AM transmitter line went to Continenmtal Electronics who had been
building Phasors for Western Electric and Graybar since 1947. The FM & TV
Transmitters line went to Standard Radio Company as I have been told.
